Euphonium
Ryan Douglas Moore is a freelance low brass musician and educator based out of Lexington, KY. He received his Bachelors and Masters Degree in Music Performance from the University of Kentucky and is currently finishing his Doctorate of Musical Arts degree from UK. Ryan has held principal positions in the University of Kentucky Wind Ensemble, Orchestra, Opera, Jazz Band, Trombone Choir and the Tuba/Euphonium Ensemble. Ryan has performed with multiple professional groups from the central Kentucky area including the Lexington Philharmonic, the Dimartino Osland Jazz Orchestra, the Lexington Brass Band, the Bluegrass Ambassadors of Jazz Ensemble and Saxton’s Cornet Band. He regularly performs with local jazz and rock bands including the Payback (James Brown tribute band), the Matt Duncan Band, Big Fresh and The G-Funk Allstars. He also performs frequently at the First United Methodist Church and Christ the King Church of Lexington.
Earle Louder is retired Distinguished Professor Emeritus of euphonium and tuba from Morehead State University (KY) where he was Resident Artist for twenty-seven years. Dr. Louder was, for twelve seasons, the Principal and Featured Euphonium Soloist of The United States Navy Band (Washington, D.C.) and was for twenty years Assistant Conductor, Principal Euphonium, and featured Euphonium Soloist with Leonard B. Smith’s, Detroit (MI) Concert Band. For twenty-five years, he has also been the featured Euphonium Soloist and principal euphonium with the Cleveland Orchestra’s Blossom Music Center Festival Band in Cuyahoga Falls (OH).
Currently, Dr. Louder is principal euphonium, Board Member, and personnel manager with the Lexington Brass Band, as well as principal and featured euphonium soloist with Keith Brion’s New Sousa Band, the New Columbian Brass Band, the Danville (KY) Advocate Brass Band, and the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp Festival Band where he is a permanent faculty member and annually adjudicates the Leonard Falcone International Euphonium/Tuba Solo Competition. He has conducted the Blue Lake International Symphony Band and International Choral Ensemble on six European tours. Dr. Louder also performs euphonium and/or baritone horn on occasion with the Brass Band of Battle Creek (MI) and tours occasionally with the River City Brass Band of Pittsburgh (PA).
Dr. Louder holds degrees in Music Education and Euphonium Performance from Michigan State University and Florida State University. At Michigan State, he was a student of the late renowned euphonium artist/teacher, Leonard V. Falcone. Dr. Louder’s honors include the Morehead State University’s prestigious Distinguished Faculty Award, the Kentucky Universities’ Teacher of the Year Award, and the Lifetime Achievement Award of the Tubists Universal Brotherhood Association (now the International Tuba and Euphonium Association), the association’s highest honor. Dr. Louder is acclaimed as one of the world’s finest euphonium virtuosos and is in great demand, nationally and internationally, as guest soloist, clinician, adjudicator, and conductor. His performances have taken him throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, Japan, and South America.
